2014 NBA SEASON SUPERLATIVES

Everyone might be excited that the playoffs are finally here. I am too. But I will miss the guys who didn't make the cut. No more BOOGIE COUSINS tirades, Andre Drummond blocks, J.R. Smith 3 point celebrations, Pablo Prigioni triple axels, or angry Kobe Byrant faces, but we relive it one last time in this year's NBA superlatives. From embarrassing crossovers to the game winner of the year, the best of the best starts now.

Best Crossover: Andre Iguodala
I mean come on, LOOK AT THAT HANDLE!

I could go on for pages with this one, but I'll save the embarrassment of Quincy Miller. This was all over ESPN the next day, and I'm sure his teammates gave him plenty of crap for it. Andre Iguodala is one of my favorite players, and is too underrated. People are wondering why his stats aren't up to his usual numbers. Gee, maybe because he has Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and David Lee scoring, rebounding and getting assists. He just does whatever the teams needs him to do. He's a lock down defender and a former all star. Look for him to have a huge impact on the playoffs against the Clippers.

Best "ARE YOU F@&%$?! KIDDING ME?!" face:  BOO-GIE!

You guessed it. Finalists include LeBron James, CP3 and Dwight Howard. Ah Boogie, you're easily becoming one of my favorite guys in the league. You've just stolen our hearts really. Whether it was leaving the arena mid-game, setting a screen and giving Patrick Beverley a quick jab, or cussing out Ben McLemore for taking a last second shot instead of you, it has been a thoroughly entertaining year. I will always wonder how insanely good you could be with guys like Popovich, Duncan, KG or Phil Jackson on your bench, but for now we'll see how next year goes. Don't ever change DeMarcus Cousins.

Dunk of the Year: Xavier Henry on Jeff Withey:

There are the usual suspects: Blake, LeBron, Paul George, DeAndre. All of them had crazy lobs, jams and stare downs to go with them (a requirement for any great poster dunk.) But time to give props to a guy who doesn't make a ton of headlines, but did with this jam.
The Lakers are just a mess, and he probably won't be on the team next year, but I'll take him on my team any day if he can do that.

Most Intensity: Lance Stephenson, IND (Kevin Garnett was a close second place)

"The 8th Grader" was balling this year. Five triple doubles, among the top rebounding guard and almost made the all star team. He fuels his play with emotion, and sometimes he takes it too far.. and I LOVE IT! What fun is the Heat Pacers game if Lance doesn't get in D-Wade's face? I need to see that guy fired up at all times. Another one of my favorite players, from an entertainment and temper tantrum standpoint, he wears his heart on his sleeve, and isn't afraid of going toe-to-toe anyone on the basketball court. He would run through a brick wall to win if he had to. Oh by the way, he has a few nominations for pass of the year too, see the link below:

And Finally,
Game winner of the year: Damian Lillard

I wanted to go with Iggy again or my hometown guy Jeff Green (Celtics!) but Damian Lillard just has balls of steel making a shot like that. 7 seconds left, and he drains a 30 footer on the road to win... Jalen Rose said it best, "He's Oakland tough!" can't wait to see them play the Rockets, could rival the Clippers-Warriors for the best first round series this year. It was fun while it lasted.
